Description
BO (Rokushaku Bo)
Hand made Bo made of hard wood. Wood is treated with high quality natural wax polish paste (silicon free) that nourishes, feeds and protects thewood and helps to prevent it from drying out.It doesn't not leave a film onto the wood. As a result, the wood is free for moving without cracks and pealing and it doesn't stick on the hands and has a velvet touch.
If maintenance is needed, super-fine sandpaper (600-grit) can be used.
Bo can be round OR tampered
Bo round dimensions: 122,153, 183, 196 mm
Bo tampered dimensions: 122, 153, 183, 196 mm
The bō is a six-foot long staff, sometimes tampered at either end. Also it is known as Rokushaku Bo, Roku means six, shaku is a measure of about 1 foot in length
It was perhaps developed from a farming tool called atenbin: a stick placed across the shoulders with baskets or sacks hanging from either end. The bo was also possibly used as the handle to a rake or a shovel. It is known that Okinawan fishermen used long poles called kushaku Bo to navigate their boats around the roots of mangroves where oars proved ineffective. Stories are also told of the Bo being used to scale castle walls. The Bo was inserted between the stones and used as a step.
